What is Renewable Energy? Clean Energy?

 Renewable energy is produced from natural resources that will replace or replenish on their own, like wind, water, and sunshine. It is also called “green power” because it doesn’t pollute the air or water. Most clean energy is also renewable, including wind, hydroelectric power, and solar power. Hence Renewable Energy is like a synonym for Clean Energy.

Why Renewable Energy?

Renewables are becoming an increasingly important energy source, accounting for more than one-eighth of the US generation. Renewables are increasingly replacing “dirty” fossil fuels (coal, coal products, crude oil, petroleum products, and non-renewable wastes) in the energy sector, resulting in lower carbon emissions and other forms of pollution.

Since the sun provides more energy than we will ever need, electricity from solar power is a significant energy source in the transition to green energy production. We have more innovative and cheaper ways to harvest and store wind and solar energy. 

Renewable energy impacting the world

There is widespread support for renewable energy sources, especially solar and wind, which provide electricity without carbon dioxide emissions.

As the world moves away from fossil fuels, renewable and clean energy rises, meaning more opportunities in areas ranging from electric vehicles to energy production and storage. Suppose companies and countries are to meet their commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In that case, it is essential to continue developing their renewable energy sources and continue to create incentives for developing solar or wind energy. Given the state and federal government incentives for companies to generate and use clean, renewable energy, it makes sense to look at these alternative energy sources.

Much of the newly added manufacturing capacity in the US and many other countries is dominated by clean energy sources, primarily solar and wind power. 

Usage of Renewable Energy

Clean energy can be used for various purposes, from generating electricity to heating water and more, depending on the energy source.

Solar Energy    

Solar Energy is one form of renewable energy. Solar Energy can generate electricity and heat water and has enormous potential, especially as technology advances and prices plummet. 

How is Solar Energy created? 

Solar Energy uses panels to collect sunlight and heat into usable, emission-free energy. In short, particles of sunlight are captured by solar cells in a solar panel, where they are converted into electricity and added to the power grid.

When photons hit solar panels, these semiconductors use electrons to create electrical currents. With this technology, you can directly power your home or business without relying solely on the electrical grid. 

Usage of Solar Energy

Solar energy technology can be expanded to larger panels used to power homes or other buildings. Multiple solar panels can be installed, such as an array of public solar panels to power the entire city. Solar panels installed in individual homes provide energy that does not depend on being connected to a larger electrical grid.

Future of Renewable / Solar Energy

The expansion of renewable energy is happening on a large and small scale, from rooftop solar panels that can sell power to the national grid and giant offshore wind farms. 

Energy is generated through the purchase and revocation of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), representing the US’s environmental attributes associated with solar generation. Sustainability companies also stimulate renewable energy development by building their facilities (such as solar roofs and wind farms), buying renewable electricity through sales contracts, and buying renewable energy certificates (RECs).
